Bright Lights Topshop
Bright Lights, Big City are a series of lights, which explore the art of neon
signage, a fascinating and almost dying art since the introduction of new lighting
technologies. Each light comprises of a different text message written
in neon and hidden inside a classic lampshade.
Lampshades were invented to cover up ugly bulbs and fittings as well
as diffuse light. Here the process is subverted. The light source is
more beautiful than the lampshade. So next time you lie down, there
will be more to do than stare at the ceiling.
Bright Lights, Big City was commissioned by the flagship Oxford Street branch of Topshop.
