WE BREAK BREAD

Afroditi’s first co-owned restaurant brand

‘A bold and confident reflection of modern Tel Avivian living with a youthful soul’ was the brief set for this fascinating project, led by chef and Ottolenghi alumnus Eran Tibi. Inspired by the White City itself, we devised an overarching design concept that defies current trends and draws inspiration from Bauhaus, one of the most influential architectural movements of the last century. Under the creative theme of ‘The Desert Bauhaus’, the design seeks to emulate the White City’s sun-kissed evenings for the two-floored space.

We incorporated materials that conveyed the passing of time – surfaces and finishes slightly worn and faded from the heat and sun – and picked an unapologetic Mediterranean colour palette. Imported, handmade pink and black Israeli Terrazzo flooring provides contrast to the silk matt black slate tabletops and burgundy red leather banquettes accented with salmon pink fabric upholstery. Liberal use of white highlighted the open kitchen with a gently curving zinc counter, whilst palm fronds and a bespoke orb chandelier completed the look. This is Afroditi’s first co-owned restaurant.
