In the summer of 2009, Afroditi embarked on a partnership with leading Italian furniture producer Bonaldo. The first collaborative object created was the ICosì occasional table, a simple geometric structure comprised of numerous curved and varnished steel rods. The concept originated from line and grid drawings on models of a form that she accidentally constructed. “The form really puzzled me because it was very simple yet complex geometrically”. Ultimately, the design culminated in a simple, final version that utilises one single element made out of bent steel rod, which is repeated 20 times (the name Icosì, in Greek, means ‘twenty’).
Launched at the 2010 Milan Fair, ICosi’s extremely light, simple, yet visually dynamic form made it an instant success and a contemporary classic.
