SUVLAKI/
45m2, 29 SEATS, 1 AWARD

The smallest award-winning eatery in London

With Suvlaki’s food focused on Greek street food culture, Afroditi’s overall creative direction was inspired by Athens’ notorious graffiti, reflecting an authentic, urban side of Greece that’s far removed from the usual touristy clichés. The resulting design buzzes with a raw, witty and idiosyncratic energy. A single-minded palette of blues, from inky petrol tones to bright turquoise hues, have been used throughout, in a myriad of rich textures, finishes and patterns, producing a dark, classic and bold feel.

Products from the signature AKollection product range were used throughout the interior including the Moroccan made Piano Tiles and beveled glass Pentagon Pendant Lamps, creating warm and bold reflecting light. Furniture and bric-a-brac sourced and made in Greece sits alongside Greek marble table tops and Italian lava stone worktops, and the feature Greek column cladded wall is made from 80 reclaimed, vintage Italian terrazzo fluted column sections. The clever use of space has allowed the design to incorporate 32 covers under 450 square feet.
